Most of the images in GeoDIL have been released into the public domain under a Creative Commons Zero dedication. A handful of images were produced by government employees and have always been in the Public Domain. All of these images have an icon detailing this at the bottom of their pages.

Some images in GeoDIL are not freely licensed and the copyright is held by the original uploader. You may copy these images as much as you like for noncommercial, personal, educational, or classroom use. These actions qualify as Fair Use and are permitted under U.S. law. Redistribution would require the permission of the copyright holder.
