Title | Air pollution: view from Canyonlands National Park, Island In the Sky District, towards the La Salle Mountains |
Description | Just a few decades ago, the air was generally clear in the National Parks of Utah. Today, haze is almost always present. The source of the pollution is not known with certainty, but it presumably comes from sprawling population centers to the west. The outcrops in the foreground are sandstone but the La Salle Mountains are of igneous origin. |
