Description | Malachite, Cu2(CO3)(OH)2 (copper carbonate hydroxide) is a copper mineral often found with azurite or chrysocolla. It is best known for its green color. Here it is intimately mixed with tenorite, CuO, a black massive mineral. The orange-reddish material is limonite, a mixture of hydrated iron oxide minerals. These minerals are found in the oxidized portions of copper deposits. |
