DescriptionAragonite, a polymorph of calcite, has many different appearances. Here we see a nodule with radiating structure and “popcorn” on the outside. At the Earth surface, aragonite is thermodynamically less stable its polymorph calcite. Yet, it often forms by disequilibrium processes. This sample is 10 cm across.
