TitleInclusion trails in garnet porphyroblasts, Texas Gulch Formation, Brady Butte area, central Arizona
DescriptionThe garnet crystals are growing in the hinges of crenulations and on the short limbs of asymmetrical parasitic folds. The ilmenite (dark) grains are included in the garnets as curving trails (sigmoidal trails). Under other circumstances, these might be interpreted as rolled garnets, but these probably grew without rolling, incorporating preexisting folds. From Williams (1994, Journal of Metamorphic Geology).
