TitlePerthite
DescriptionPerthite is the name given intimate intermixtures of a potassium feldspar, either microcline or orthoclase, and the sodium-rich plagioclase feldspar, albite, with potassium feldspar the predominant constituent. The main chemical formula for perthite is (K,Na)AlSi3O8. Perthite is formed when the cooling of K-feldspar causes exsolution of sodium- and potassium-rich feldspar.
