Title | Andesite, Lassen Volcanic National Park, California |
Description | These are andesite boulders in Lassen Volcanic National Park, in an area called the “Chaos Jumbles.” Lassen Park is in California, at the southern end of the Cascade Range. Major explosive eruptions of Lassen Peak occurred between 1914 and 1917. Minor activity lasted until 1921. All of Lassen’s rocks are andesite and dacite. They range from fine ash beds to coarse and jumbled agglomerates. This reddish-brown andesite is speckled with white feldspar crystals. |
