TitleAndesitic lava flows near the “Chaos Jumbles” of Lassen Volcanic National Park
DescriptionHere we see andesitic lava flows near the “Chaos Jumbles” of Lassen Volcanic National Park. Lassen Park is in California, at the southern end of the Cascade Range. Major explosive eruptions of Lassen Peak occurred between 1914 and 1917. Minor activity lasted until 1921. All of Lassen’s rocks are andesite and dacite. They range from fine ash beds to coarse and jumbled agglomerates. This reddish-brown andesite is speckled with white feldspar crystals.
