DescriptionThe Bonneville Salt Flats in western Utah, near the Nevada border, seem to extend endlessly. The desert floor here is 100% halite, common table salt. The salt was originally deposited by evaporation of the Great Salt Lake, and later modified when salty groundwaters came to the surface and the evaporated.
