TitleHalite and sylvite
DescriptionHalite (NaCl) and sylvite (KCl) are often found together. Although similar in chemistry and crystal structure, their mutual solubility is limited, so compositions between the two are very rare. In this sample the halite is stained red, but halite is usually clear white. This specimen is about 18 cm.
