Title | Fluorite showing its cubic nature |
Description | Fluorite, CaF2 comes in many colors. This blue coloration is not as common as the more typical purple. Fluorite crystals usually form cubes; less commonly octahedra. The cubic character is evident in this photo, and the reflected light shows an octahedral face. Fluorite is one of the few common halide minerals. This specimen is about 6.5 cm across. |
