Description | Pyrochlore, (Ca,Na)2Nb2O6(O,OH,F), is a very minor ore of niobium and rare earth metals. It may be granular, massive or disseminated. When euhedral, crystals are often octahedra (as in this photograph) that are modified by other forms. It may be yellow to reddish brown and, rarely, black. Most pyrochlore is radioactive. |
