Description | Glaucodot, (Co,Fe)AsS, is a rare gray to silvery white (when fresh and untarnished) metallic copper, iron and arsenic sulfide found in hydrothermal deposits. When tarnished it may become darker colored. It is difficult to distinguish from other silvery metallic minerals. In this photo, the large crystals in the pocket are glaucodot. Most of the rest of the specimen is pyrite (and minor quartz). This specimen is 6 cm across. |
