| Title | Alabandite with rhodochrosite |
| Description | The black mineral is alabandite, MnS (manganese sulfide), a relatively rare mineral. Most samples, like this one are so fine grained and massive that individual crystals cannot be seen. Here it is seen with rhodochrosite (pink), a manganese carbonate. Alabandite is typically found in epithermal vein deposits associated with manganese ores. This specimen is 7 cm across. |
