Description | This sample, 8 cm across, contains platinum-bearing covellite, CuS (copper sulfide) on the left side and a mix of quartz and pyrite on the right side. Covellite can be bright metallic indigo blue-violet colored when fresh, but tarnishes to become darker and often reddish or brown as seen here. |
