Description | The orange-brown material is sphalerite, (Zn,Fe)S, (zinc iron sulfide). It is an important ore of zinc and is one of the very few minerals that has a total of six directions of cleavage. Here it is in a breccia; the white/gray pieces are made of chert. This sample is 11 cm across. |
