DescriptionGalena (PbS) is the most common lead mineral and the most important lead ore mineral. Some specimens form euhedral (well developed with flat faces) crystals, but the one shown here is massive and irregular. Fresh, untarnished samples are shiny and have a silver color. This specimen is 6 cm across.
