Title | Triphylite |
Description | This rather nondescript specimen is triphylite, Li(Fe,Mn)PO4. It is a rather scarce phosphate mineral, and is closely related to lithiophilite. The two minerals only differ in Mn to Fe ratios. Triphylite’s color is typically blue, gray-blue and gray-blue-green, but in this sample it is dark brown-black. It is generally fine grained and massive, rarely forming good crystals, but the cleavable nature of this specimen is typical. |
