DescriptionThis specimen contains a mixture of iron oxides (mostly hematite) and iron hydroxides (limonite and goethite). Goethite, FeO(OH) is generally a rather dull, dirty mineral, but the vugs in this specimen contain well developed crystals which can be seen when the photo is enlarged. The sample is 26 cm across.
