Title | Gold ore from Red Lake Ontario |
Description | This is a sample of very high grade gold ore from Red Lake Ontario. The specimen is 9 cm across and gold flakes are scattered in the white quartzose parts of the rock (but can only be seen when the photo is quite large). Some economical gold ores run as low as tenths of an ounce of gold per ton of rock. This sample probably contains ounces per ton. This rock has been highly altered and sheared but was probably originally a rhyolitic rock. |
