Title | Rutheniridosmine (ruthenium-osmium-iridium alloy) in suflide ore |
Description | This specimen is 4 cm across. It contains rutheniridosmine, a natural alloy of ruthenium, osmium and iridium in which iridium dominates, mixed with gold-colored sulfides. When fresh, ruthenirodosmine has a silver-white metallic appearance. It occurs in ultamafic rocks and in placers derived from such rocks.
