TitleAnthracite coal
DescriptionCoal forms by compression of swamp vegetation. The longer and deeper that coal is buried, the higher grade it becomes. Anthracite is the highest grade. This means it contains less water, is harder, and burns hotter than lower grade bituminous coal and lignite. So, it is prized a a fuel in industrial applications. This sample is 10 cm across.
