Title | Native antimony |
Description | This is a specimen of native antimony, 9 cm across. Native antimony is only a minor ore of the element antimony (Sb) because it is such a rare mineral. Most Sb comes from other minerals, such as stibnite, that contain antimony in lesser amounts. Antimony is an important industrial element because, like water, it expands when it goes from a liquid to solid form. It is mixed with other metals when a consistent size is required through large temperature ranges. |
