| Description | This sample contains blue azurite, Cu3(CO3)2(OH)2. The azurite is on top of green smithsonite, ZnCO3. Azurite can be spectacular because of its color, the deep blue called “azure” that gives it its name. Unfortunately, at times the color is so strong that the crystals can appear black, as in the center of this specimen. This specimen is 10 cm across. |
