Description | Lepidolite belongs to the mica group. It has the chemical formula of KLi2Al(Al,Si)3O10(F,OH)2. Lepidolite is an ore of lithium and forms in granitic masses that contain a substantial amount of lithium. Lepidolite is an uncommon mica and has only recently become available on the mineral market in large quantities. The name comes from the Greek lepidion meaning scale and lithos meaning stone. Green lepidolite is more uncommon than its purple sister. |
