Description | Callaghanite is know for it blue to indigo (or violet or purple) color. It's formula is Cu2Mg2(CO3)(OH)6·2H2O. Nye County, Nevada, is one of the few places where it has been found. There, it is a secondary mineral found in a magnesite-dolomite rock. In this small specimen (1 cm across) it is accompanied by hydromagnesite and possibly brucite. |
