| Description | The greenish yellow mineral is liebigite, Ca2(UO2)(CO3)3·11(H2O (a hydrated calcium uranium carbonate) grown on sandstone. It is sometimes described as having an apple-green color. Liebigite is one of many yellowish uranium minerals; they are hard to tell apart without analytical or X-ray data. It occurs as a secondary mineral in uranium deposits and as coatings or efflorescence on mine walls. This specimen is 6 cm across. |
