TitleDolomite crystals on dolomitic mudstone
DescriptionHere we see nicely formed rhombohedral crystals of dolomite, CaMg(CO3)2 (calcium magnesium carbonate). They crystallized on top of a slab of dolomitic mudstone. Dolomite crystals often have a beautiful pinkish color, pearly luster and unusual crystal habit that includes curved crystal faces. This sample is 14 cm across.
