TitleCopper and malachite
DescriptionThis sample is mostly native copper, but it is tarnished and only shows copper coloration where a fresh surface was exposed when it was cut. The green mineral is malachite, Cu2(CO3)(OH)2, a common secondary mineral that forms by oxidation and carbonation of other copper minerals. This sample is 5.5 cm tall.
