| Title | Malachite |
| Description | Malachite is a hydrated carbonate mineral that forms when other copper minerals are altered by CO2 bearing water. It is present in nearly all oxidized copper deposits and serves as a prospector's flag indicating the presence of copper. Malachite is often found with azurite, a blue secondary copper mineral that has a similar composition and forms in a similar way. This sample is 6 cm across. |
