| Description | The green matieral is smithsonite, ZnCO3 (zinc carbonate). It has been and an important, although rather minor, ore of zinc. Here it is accompanied by yellow-orange limonite. When smithsonite precipitates from water it often forms samples, like this one, that are granular. This specimen is about 8 cm across. |
