| Description | Witherite is an uncommon barium carbonate mineral, BaCO3. It generally forms from calcite (CaCO3), but is easily altered to barite (BaSO4) and so is not very stable. In some rare places it is mined as an ore of barium. This sample is 4 cm across. |
