DescriptionHere we see blue vivianite in patches on a sandstone from California. Vivianite is a hydrated iron phosphate mineral. When fresh, vivianite may appear blue, green or clear and have a vibrant sparkle. When exposed to light, it darkens. To preserve its beauty it should be stored in a dark cabinet. This specimen is 11 cm across.
