| Description | Halotrichite is a hydrated iron aluminum sulfate. It, and its magnesium counterpart (pickeringite) form as a result of weathering of pyrite-bearing aluminous rocks. They often accumulate as efflorescence in mine workings. This “fuzzy” sample, 2 cm across, is composed of fine fibers, typical for this mineral. |
