| Description | Barite (BaSO4)is quite soluble in water, and so can precipitate in many different ways. Sometimes bladed or tabular crystals form a concentric pattern of increasingly larger crystals outwards, resulting in medallions such as the ones shown. The largest of the samples shown is about 4 cm across. |
