Title | Fumarole at Sulfur Works, Lassen Volcanic National Park, USA |
Description | The last major eruption of Lassen Volcano (Lassen Volcanic National Park, California, USA) was between 1914 and 1921. So, the region remains quite hot and is associated with many geothermal features. At the Sulfur Works, a fumarole and hot spring, hot water and sulfur rich gases reach the surface, and sulfur (yellow) is deposited as crusts. In some places, fumaroles such as this are tapped as an energy source (to make electricity). |
