Title | Speleothems in Lehman Cave |
Description | This photo shows many varieties of stalactites (hanging down from the ceiling), and a few stalagmites (pointing up from the floor). These are all varieties of speleothems (which means cave formations). Speleothems grow slowly over long times when calcite precipitates (forming limestone) from dripping or slowly flowing groundwater. |
