Title | Diffusion dolomite, Fremont County, Colorado |
Description | Dolomite is a term used to refer to a specific mineral, CaMg(CO3)2, and also to a rock (such as this one) composed primarily of that mineral. This sample is nearly 100% dolomite. The brown and white striping is due to hematite (Fe2O3) that stains the surfaces of grains in some layers. The sample is 10 cm across. |
