Description | Amazonite is a term used to describe green to blue microcline that is sometimes used as a gemstone. More typically, microcline (a K-feldspar) is white to tan in color. In this photo, the “pseudo-hexagonal” nature of the feldspar crystals can be seen. This specimen is 7 cm across. It comes from a well-known collecting site at the Rocket Mining Claim, near Pikes Peak, Colorado. |
