Description | This rock is mostly talc, but contains lesser amounts of plagioclase and quartz. Rocks of this sort are termed soapstone, becaus talc gives them a soapy (or greasy) feel. It formed by alteration/metamorphism, but the nature of the parent rock is uncertain. This sample is 8.5 cm across. |
