Description | This sample is from the Hugo pegmatite near Keystone, South Dakota, Black Hills, USA. It is primarily feldspar (albite) but also includes tantalite, (Fe,Mn)(Ta,Nb)2O6, and triphylite, Li(Fe,Mn)PO4. This sample is 6 cm across. The white-tan material is feldspar. Triphylite can be seen as 2 cm wide gray-green mass on the upper left part of this sample. The tantalite is black and is exposed as stringers on the top of the sample and as one large dark “flake” on the front right edge. |
