DescriptionCitrine is the yellow orange variety of quartz (SiO2). It is rare in nature but can often be obtained by heating the purple variaty of quartz, amethyst. Quartz, one of the most abundant minerals on Earth, is found in nearly every geological environment, and has many different varieties. Varieties include citrine, amethyst, rose quartz, milky quartz, smoky quartz and others.
