TitleNepheline syenite (malignite)
DescriptionThis mafic nepheline syenite is an intrusive igneous rock. The sample is 10 cm in longest dimension. It contains 25% nepheline and approximately equal amounts of pyroxene (aegirine) and potassium feldspar (orthoclase). Minor amphibole and biotite are also present. The name Malignite is derived from the Maligne River in Ontario, Canada.
