Title | Deformation experiment using octachloropropane (2 of 5 photos) |
---|---|
Description | The small black particles are pieces of silicon carbide grinding powder. These were dispersed through the sample to provide a set of markers to display the patterns of strain and displacement from one picture to another. The OCP grains cannot be relied on to provide this information because many of the OCP boundaries can be seen to move relative to the grinding powder particles by the process called grain boundary migration. The total elapsed time from image 1 to 5 is 19 hours. |
