TitleGranite at Joshua Tree National Park, California
DescriptionJoshua Tree, one of the United State's newest National Parks, is located in the Mojave Desert just a few hours east of Los Angeles. The park is best known the outcrops of Mesozoic granite and for its cactus and other desert vegetation (including Joshua Trees). The granite weathers to form rounded boulders cut by cracks and crevices that form along joints. The San Andreas fault runs near Joshaus tree; this same granite crops out near San Francisco, on the other side of the fault.
