DescriptionThis sample of sanbornite is from the Incline sanbornite deposit, Trumball Peak, near Incline, California, USA. Sanbornite, BaSi2O5, is a rare phyllosilicate (mica-like) mineral. It is one of the few known barium minerals. (More common barium minerals are barite and witherite.) The sample also contains some small crystals of red gillespite, BaFeSi4O10. It is about 7 cm across.
