Description | This sample contains yellow-brown joaquinite with white natrolite and blue-green benitoite from San Benito, California, USA. Benitoite is a rare mineral having composition BaTiSi3O9. Joaquinite, also rare, has composition NaBa2FeCe2(Ti,Nb)2(SiO3)8O2(OH,F)·H2O. Natrolite is a zeolite with composition Na2Al2Si3O10-2H2O. These minerals are only found together in San Benito California, where they formed by alteration of a serpentinite. This specimen is about 7 cm across. |
