Title | Narsarsukite |
Description | Narsarsukite (whitish mineral) is a poorly known mineral having composition sodium titanium iron silicate fluoride. It was named after Narsarsuk, Greenland, where it was originally found. There it occurs in agpaitic pegmatite intrusions (unusual igneous rocks that are high in alkaline metals such as sodium and poor in silica). These intrusions also contain high concentrations of generally minor elements such as titanium, fluorine and rare earth metals. Narsarsukite has the chemical formula Na2(Ti,Fe)Si4(O,F)11. |
