Title | Yoshimuraite with urbanite, feldspar and rhodonite from the Toguchi Mine in Honshu, Japan |
Description | This sample is fine grained, so individual minerals are hard to pick out. The orangish mineral is yoshimuraite, a complex barium-strontium-manganese-titanium-iron silicate that also contains phosphate and sulfate. Yoshimuraite is found exclusively in metamorphosed manganese deposits. The black mineral is urbanite, a pyroxene related to augite. The pink mineral is rhodonite. White feldspar is also present. This sample is 6 cm across. |
