Description | The area around St. Cloud Minnesota is well known for its granite quarries that produce building and monument stone. This is a very coarse grained granite with large pale pink K-feldspar (microcline) crystals that provide the porphyritic character. Small gray plagioclase (oligoclase), quartz, biotite, and hornblende are easily seen. This is a plutonic igneous rock. It is 10 cm across. |
